Recovery Time

The Thomas Fire started in December 2017, scorching the mountains and all the vegetation above Montecito. On January 9, 2018, Mother Nature unleashed a devastating storm with nothing left to hold back mud, debris, and boulders from the mountains above us. There was no way we could have imagined what was to be. It’s been a daunting task to unravel, reveal, digest, and awaken to the harsh reality but with our master plan, we now have hope of a new day.

We have taken our time to carefully consider our past while envisioning the future of La Casa. As we prepare to break ground, we are filled with gratitude and awe, and we thank all of you who have been so supportive; we look forward to seeing and serving you again soon.

“We’re excited and honored to collaborate with the Immaculate Heart Community on the rebuilding of La Casa de Maria. We have always felt a connection with this community and we are thrilled to be involved with the master plan efforts. After disasters such as this, we often speak of resilience in terms of systems implemented to mitigate the effects of future events. But the most powerful, Moses-enduring type of resilience is created through the strong bonds by which we all support one another. We look forward to forming those bonds in the months ahead.”
